Childlike Faith
As an adult, a believer in Christ, and a child of God my faith is consistently tested. It seems like there is no area of life the enemy will not attempt to ruin, especially when we have dedicated our lives to the Lord. I used to think that trials and hardships were only allowed by God to enter our lives so that we could learn to submit and obey Him. But there is a place where you have submitted everything: life, time, energy, finances, relationships, hopes, dreams, and intentions – and there is still great opposition from the enemy. By now you begin to ask yourself and God: “What and I doing wrong?” “When is this going to work out?” or “What is causing this?” So in your quest to understand and hopefully come across the solution to bring the trial to an end, you start to throw everything you have at the enemy. Spiritual warfare must be the answer! But it just acts as a means to further exhaust and drain you in the tug of war against the enemy. So what do you do now? Trust God. It sounds way too simple and common to actually be the answer, so you go into yet another round of fighting, scripture quoting, and declaring how God is going to rip the hide off of the enemy, and still end up exhausted.
This is not to ridicule anyone of make light of the struggles that just won’t seem to leave you alone. Trust me I know enough about it to testify to what is can do to a person. However, this is just a friendly reminder to trust God with childlike faith. To trust God the way a two year old trusts that you won’t drop him/her when you pick him/her up. To trust God the way you trust that the sun will rise each day regardless of if you actually feel its heat or see the light from its rays. To trust Him like you trust that the earth is spinning in outers pace although you can’t feel it, since you have come into the knowledge of it, you believe it to be true. Why is it so hard to trust God just because He tells us to? Why is it so difficult to believe that He is really working all things together for our good when things don’t look or feel good? Let us not let the knowledge of evil make us question and doubt the goodness and trustworthiness of God. Let us do as Jesus instructed and come believing with childlike faith, giving up our right to be skeptical, cautious, or self-reliant. Let us just be still and know that He is God, and that if God is for us what enemy can stand against us? It seems hard to believe, but most of the battles we face really do belong to the Lord. He wants us to be quipped and armed, ready to fight, but also grateful and giving Him “first dibs” on attacking the enemy for our sakes. Why would God say He is good if He is going to sit by and let us exhaust ourselves trying to fight against the enemy? God knows that sooner or later we will get to the place where we can let go and just believe that He alone is able to make the changes we need in our life. Some enemies we do have to fight: temptations, appetites, and things that affect our will to serve God. Other enemies we just need to agree with God of Angel Armies that there are more with us than on the enemies’ side.
It’s like in those tough times when discouragement is searching for a way in, God begins to ask us if we will trust Him to take care of it. Will we say Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven? Will we move out of the way so that He can face our enemies head on? Or are we going to keep going in the same circle not offering our mighty Warrior King in on the battle?
Keep in mind
Children of God can come to Him and ask for what they need – So listen: Keep on asking, and you will receive. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened for you. All who keep asking will receive, all who keep seeking will find, and doors will open to those who keep knocking. (Luke 11:9-10)
Humility, repentance, and faith are virtues of those with childlike faith – About that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?” Jesus called a little child to him and put the child among them. Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. (Matthew 18:1-4)
Let Us Pray: Lord thank you for being our God, our King, our Savior, our Present Help in the time of trouble. Lord thank You that You are concerned about us, You are the Great Shepherd who will fight off a bear or lion to save us from destruction. You are the Father who gave His Son to deliver us from sin and You are the Son who died a grisly death to give us freedom from the torment of the enemy. Lord You are all powerful, all knowing, and always with us, You will never leave us in the clutches of the enemy or allow us to be stolen away from Your care. Lord we know that we do have responsibility over some things in our lives, but other things we are better off giving them to You. Lord we come to You with childlike faith today, trusting that You are able to lovingly take care us way better than we can take care of ourselves. Lord we stand before You believing that You are fully capable of working all things together for our good. We don’t have to know how it’s going to work out, we just let our faith and confidence rise in You expecting that You are going to do something amazing in our lives. Lord we cling to You, we hold fast to our faith, we still ourselves knowing that You are God and are working on our behalf right now. Lord we not only believe that You are working in our lives, but are also working in the lives of those that we life up to You. Holy Spirit please lead us and guide us to stay in Your will until all of Your plans are accomplished. Lord thank You that we can come boldly before Your throne of grace to ask for what we need. Lord thank You for showing us a better way, now please refresh, refill, revive, and restore us and those we lift before You in the Mighty name of Jesus. We officially ask You to fight all battles we face and agree that the victory is already won right now in Jesus name AMEN!
If this has blessed you, please share and encourage someone else to activate their childlike faith today!
