Get to Know The Way Maker

the-sun-way

What do you do when there is something you need and it seems impossible to get it? What do you do when you need to get somewhere and there is something obstructing your path making it unrealistic that you would ever get there? What do you do when there seems like nothing else can be done? Many non-believers and believers alike give up. They accept that they will not get what they need or never get to where they want to go in life. Some people fall into depression, other people look or someone to blame, and unfortunately most people move on in their lives as best they can assuming that it was not God’s will for them to receive what they needed or go to the place that they were drawn to. Please don’t stop reading here, because many of you might think that you know where this message is going. You may think that I am going to throw at you some motivational message about never giving up (basically telling you that if you don’t get what you want or need that it is your fault for giving up). Or you might think that I am going to try to get you to adjust your aspirations to be more attainable (basically letting you know that you need to stop hoping that you will ever get, do, or become anything greater than what you already are so you should be happy with that). No, to the contrary what I want to share with you is knowledge of the One who can obtain for you what you cannot get for yourself, Someone who can help you get to where you are being drawn to, moving you past hindrances, and over obstacles. Nope this is not about networking or developing an “inner circle” or “tribe”. This is about aligning with the Author of your future – the Designer of your destiny, the very Architect of your life – God.

He is the Way. John 14:6-7 states:

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”

In the passage above the word “way” comes from the Greek word hodos which can be translated “road” for traveling, or “manner” or thinking, feeling, or deciding (Definition from NAS New Testament Greek Lexicon). From this we understand that in Jesus is the pathway to our destiny. He is the Truth- answering all of the questions that we cannot find answers or solutions to on our own. When there is no physical or earthly way that we can get to the place of destiny when we let Jesus step in He becomes our way. I know in practical terms this sounds really vague conceptually, but it is something that if you haven’t tried it, maybe you should. If you have done all you can do and gone as far as you can go, maybe it’s time to let Jesus be the way out of no way. In this verse in particular, Jesus is declaring He is the road to salvation from sin, the highway that leads to intimacy with Father God. He is also declaring that it will take going through Him to where He is drawing you to. The second translation of the Greek word hodos refers to how a person thinks or feels- a person’s perception. Sometimes what we are thinking or feeling about the situation that we face can be an obstacle in itself. Turn your thoughts to Jesus, study His life including the miracles He performed and His passionate love for you. Then suddenly what seems impossible is not so difficult to accomplish when placed in the hands of the Lord.

He is the Maker. John 1:1-3 (AMP) states:

In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. He was [continually existing] in the beginning [co-eternally] with God. All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him not even one thing was made that has come into being.

One of the best revelations of a relationship with Christ is that His love for us did not begin at the point of us accepting Him as Lord and Savior. No, He loved us first. In fact He loved us before we entered our lives on earth, before we could reciprocate, He loved us. The earth was given to us to reign, rule, have dominion, and execute His authority over. His ultimate desire during creation was that we (mankind) would be an expression of His image (Genesis 1:26). The way He is in the universe is how we would be in the earth. But the fall of Adam and Eve disrupted this divine plan. We could go on and on about all that was lost as a result of the fall and how we are subjected to an inherent sin nature and bloodline curses, and how the enemy seems to try his best to keep mankind in oppression and subjection to him. However, what is really important is that the same God that created the earth and everything in it is the same God that we have access to through relationship in Christ Jesus.

So what does this have to do with getting over obstacles or arriving at your place of destiny? It means that the One with all power – especially the power to create, is on your side! Romans 8:27-29 (ESV) states:

27 And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. 29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

From these verses we know that Christ is not only our road to where we want to go, He is also our Intercessor, Advocate, Lawyer, Mediator, and our Guardian. I really love this passage of scripture because it reveals the character of God in a way that shows us that we can trust Him. Guardian is defined as “a person who is entrusted by law with the care of the person or property, or both, of another, as a minor or someone legally incapable of managing his or her own affairs.” (Dictionary.com) Christ as our Guardian is most comforting because He is taking responsibility for us to become all that we are designed to be, not as some cold distant stranger, but as a member of His family who was entrusted to Him for our best interest. He is not only interceding for us but is working behind the scenes to ensure that things work for our good. The ultimate goal of this is that we become so much like Him that we will be recognized by family resemblance. Jesus is not a cheerleader on the sidelines routing for us, nope He is active in our lives to make what is impossible for those that worship idol gods or don’t believe in God at all, possible for us. Yes Christ is the Maker- making all things new (Revelation 21:5), and making all things work together for our good.

He is the Way Maker. When the Way Maker shows up everything changes, obstacles are removed, the solutions are presented, and the result is the freedom to possess the promises of God and experience the manifestation of them actively working in our lives. What good would it be to know that a family member is setting a substantial inheritance for us, but we cannot access it right now when we need it most? This is the way a lot of believers view relationship with Christ. They know that He died for their sins and prepared a place for them (John 14:2-3), but have overlooked the fact that Christ came that we would have life more abundantly (John 10:10). When the Lord shows up He doesn’t tell us that He could help us, but we have to wait until we get to heaven to receive all that we need now, no He does for us what we cannot do, when we are weak He is strong, and when we are poor His is rich (2 Corinthians 12:9-10).

There are too many examples to share from the Bible of the Way Maker at work. But here are a few:

Jesus Calming the Storm – Mark 4:35-41 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark%204:35-41

Jesus Providing Food for 5000 – Matthew 14:13-21 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+14:13-21

Jesus Healing the Sick – Matthew 9:35 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+9%3A35&version=KJV

Jesus Setting the Oppressed Man Free – Luke 8:26-39 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke+8%3A26-39&version=NKJV

There are many examples of the Way Maker at work, the most relevant examples are the ones that we have experienced in our own lives or the lives of those near and dear to us. It could be as simple as getting a close parking spot when you are weary and tired or a miraculous healing of a debilitating disease, or supernatural provision when you had no idea of how to pay for your needs. It could be divine intervention in a puzzling situation, or supernatural protection from danger and harm. Think back on the times you had no idea of what to do, then after praying you were able to find the solution.

road-street-sign-wayThink and Thank: Instead of counting blessings, take some time to count the times the Way Maker has been active in your life.

Let Us Pray: Lord God thank You for Your faithfulness, grace, and mercy that You newly provide for us every day. Lord thank You for all the “ways” that You have made for us. Lord we can’t say that it has always been easy for us, but You were there the whole time making sure that we arrive where we need to be at the appointed time. Lord as we pause to recall all of the things that You have already done for us, we thank You and appreciate how far You have brought us. Lord right now we entrust to You every situation, dream, goal, desire, and need to You. Lord we ask You to be the Way Maker in our lives assisting us to fulfill every divine purpose and design You intended for our lives. Lord our confidence is in You and we agree that no obstacle, wall, conspiracy, evil plan, detour, or hindrance is too difficult for You to handle. Lord please forgive us for the times that we attempted to make our own way. Please forgive us for the times that we resisted Your plans or trusted in anyone or anything other than You, Lord reveal to us anything that attempts to take Your place in our lives. Lord we repent of not agreeing with You and doing things Your way. Lord please reinstate us into Your care as our Guardian. Please draw us closer to You, to hear and understand You so that we can walk with You in all things. Lord please align us with Your divine timing and forgive us for our impatience or procrastination. Please wash us clean of anything or way of thinking that does not line up with Your way. Lord we declare over every impossible situation we face that if anyone can do it, You can! If anyone can make a way out of no way You can! Lord we move out of the way right now and make room for You to move in a mighty way in our lives. Thank You Lord for working all things together for our good, even when we can’t see it. Lord we thank You for the simple solutions and ask that You demonstrate Your wonder working power in our lives as a sign to those that do not believe so that they will want to be a part of Your family. Lord let us never forget or minimize the ways that You make in our lives so that we can always testify to Your goodness. Lord we thank You for all of things in Jesus name AMEN!

Thank you for reading and for sharing with those who need a word of encouragement. Please feel free to leave a comment and share your testimony of the Way Maker at work in your life! Here are some songs about the Way Maker that will keep you all month long!
