Summer Breeze Series #1
Develop a Sweet Tooth!
103 How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! 104 Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way. 105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. –Psalm 119:103-105
A sweet tooth is a condition a person has when they find sweet treats irresistible. This urge to eat sweet desserts and other tantalizing creations in some social circles is seen as gluttonous and irresponsible. In other cultures indulging in sweet treats is recommended even encouraged, when shared among guests or for special occasions. Well the good news is that we can indulge our sweet tooth without the guilt and added pounds when we take on the attitude towards God’s word as described in Psalms 119:103-105. The Voice translation says it like this:
103 Your words are sweet to my taste!
Yes, they are sweeter than honey in my mouth!
104 I gain understanding from Your instructions;
that’s why I hate every deceitful path. 105 Your word is a lamp for my steps;
it lights the path before me.

One key to taste the sweetness of the Word of God is believing and acknowledging that the words presented in the Holy Bible are truly inspired from God. Knowing that God has provided a means to communicate with us irrelevant of our maturity level in our spiritual walk is sweet and comforting in itself. God is multifaceted and knowing Him is multidimensional the sweetness of life with Him is consistent and diverse. God doesn’t just want to talk to you, He wants you to communicate with Him too. He wants to sing over you as much as He wants to hear your praises and worship love songs to Him (Zephaniah 3:17).
Let Us Pray: Father God thank You that life with You gets sweeter and sweeter the deeper and closer that I get to You. Lord thank You for making all things new and turning my mourning to dancing and providing a garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. Thank You for working all things together for our good and for never leaving or forsaking us. Lord thank You for the sweetness of wisdom, answers, and solutions and for positioning us at the right place at the right time. Lord Thank You for the sweetness of advancing You Kingdom, completing divine assignments, and overcoming triumph over tests and trials. Lord Your love never fails, Your mercies are new every morning, and You sing over us in victory. Lord thank You for the sweet communion and fellowship of Your Son Jesus Christ in whom we are saved. Thank You for shifting our perspective to see the sweetness of life and to be able to share, inspire, and encourage others to do the same in hard situations. Lord we know that some of the things that we face in our lives are not nice or welcomed. So we ask that You take the edge off and where stress, strain, fear, anxiety, worry, dread, anger or any other unpleasant thing tries to creep in that You will remove it and replace it with more of Your sweet presence, faith, trust, honor, and grace. Lord we look forward to that sweet day when we join You in glory, but while we are here on earth help us to reflect Your love, truth, grace, and mercy by maintaining a sweet spirit at all times. Lord create in us a clean heart and a heart of worship. Please let our praise and worship to You be a sweet savor and delight to You. Lord we invite You in to the place of our lives that has not been so sweet and ask for Your transforming power to make us new. Lord please forgive us for the times that we have taken the sweetness of salvation for granted and not acknowledged You in all of our ways. Please forgive us and help us to walk only on the path that You light up for us. In Jesus name we pray. AMEN!
